About John

From a very young age I have been fascinated about cause and effect and how things work as it applies to both machines and human behavior. I also love to build things, which led me to pursue carpentry after giving  up on my dream to become a zoo keeper, veterinarian or forest ranger. I say a dream because I have had and continue to have many. I realized quickly that even though I still love working with wood, this is not something that would provide me the job satisfaction I needed. I was lucky to get my first job in maintenance at a local brewery in Cincinnati, OH and for nearly 10 years this experience taught me much about facilities maintenance and human behavior. I am forever grateful to those who gave me this opportunity and those I worked with and learned from.

I then spent 5 years in facility maintenance of  a commercial downtown high rise, learning much about heating and cooling of a building that first opened in 1926. This is where I really learned about cause and effect and the importance of root cause analysis.

The last 25 years I have spent working in the restaurant industry and had many opportunities to hone my project management, change management and process improvement skills.

My passion is to help people become better at what they do and how they do it, as this continues to help me become a better person.
